Is something that probably the smart TV manufacturers want to avoid having assoicated with their TVs. but allowing kodi, and then people then could load the 'not legal per say' plugins. While i run mine on a PC (which is on all the time anyways), there are at least many other options as well. Samsung Smart TVs run on Tizen OS, and they do not have a Kodi version that supports the device. That is the one downside, that you need to keep the 'server' side on all the time (or boot up/down every time you want to watch).
